“You can really unwind during multi-day hikes. But you must have the right footwear if you want to have any fun at all.”
— Michael | LOWA Head of Marketing
Many things change with time. Thankfully. After all, this is the only way for good things to get better. The grippy Vibram outsole remains unchanged. But a cushioning midsole and a number of functional details have been added to enhance the footwear. What’s more, the asymmetrical C4 tongue creates maximum wearing comfort. The system that features X-LACING, the dual-zone lacing and roller eyelets also creates a fit that is tailored to each wearer’s individual needs. To help people walk naturally, we have added a lace hook that works in combination with the FLEXFIT® system and reduced the amount of material used in this area. To prepare this moderately stiff hiking boot for any type of weather, the tough nubuk leather of which the footwear is made is equipped with a waterproof GORE-TEX membrane.

The CAMINO EVO GTX comes equipped with a Vibram sole. The Italian sole manufacturer has been one of the leading brands of high-quality soles for many years.
The VIBRAM APPTRAIL II sole has a modern, self-cleaning profile. It proves its exceptional capabilities particularly when it is put to the test on challenging terrain. The sole’s features are complemented on every terrain by the distinctive heel front that excels during descents.
Guaranteed weather protection, even in pouring rain and heavy snow: The CAMINO EVO GTX is equipped with a GORE-TEX membrane. The innovative technology delivers optimal waterproof protection and breathability.
Permanently waterproof
The membrane provides reliable waterproof protection. No matter what sort of adventure you may be planning, you can count on GORE-TEX technology to keep your feet pleasantly dry.
High breathability
Designed with optimal breathability in mind, GORE-TEX shoes provide pleasant comfort even during intense activities. Water cannot penetrate the footwear, and moisture produced inside the shoe escapes through billions of pores in the GORE-TEX membrane.
Windproof
The GORE-TEX membrane dependably fights off the wind and the weather. As a result, you can head off on a tour no matter what the weather is like.
“No matter whether snow is falling, rain is plunging from the sky or the sun is shining – children wearing GORE-TEX footwear can romp around to their heart’s content during any type of weather.”

Thanks to the two-zone lacing system used in the CAMINO EVO GTX, the forefoot and upper have their own separately adjustable lacing zones. As a result, the shoe can be individually adapted to the anatomy of the foot and laced in different ways for ascents and descents.
“It is convenient being able to match your footwear with your activity and terrain with the aid of this twin-zone lacing system. My forefoot has to be held perfectly in place inside the boot, especially for descents. I need a bit more space on the upper.”
— Jacqueline Fritz | LOWA ACTIVE Team
Anyone who returns home after a long hiking tour knows that feeling of gratitude. Gratitude for breathtaking days spent in the great outdoors, for spectacular moments and for snug boots that safely took the hiker up the mountains and back down again. Many hikers have a very special relationship with their hiking boots. They are something more than just another pair of shoes in the closet. They are more like a hiking partner and a real companion. For a few, they even become something that can only be described as friends. Hikers just can’t do without them. The boots fit like a glove and accompany us everywhere – as they should. Sometimes you wonder: What would the boots say if they could talk? What would they tell us? What have they seen?

As a result, the tongue is located where it should be – without any slippage or pressure points: This is what X-LACING technology of the CAMINO EVO GTX is all about. This special lacing system secures the tongue both vertically and horizontally. Because the lacing system gains independence from the height of the instep, the design is perfect for any type of foot. This technology ensures that the pressure of the laces is transferred not just to the hooks but to the tongue as well.
When you are racking up one kilometre after another in a comfortable pair of trekking boots, you certainly won’t mind taking a detour that you encounter along the way. This is particularly the case with the CAMINO EVO GTX. It impresses users with a wide range of functions. These include a moderately stiff midsole, a feature that has been optimised both functionally and optically. With the help of a softer insert in the heel and forefoot areas, the bi-density sole creates an extra layer of cushioning whilst the rest of the sole provides the stability that wearers need thanks to the use of a harder insert. The combination of heel-to-toe drop and the FLEXFIT® system on the ankle facilitates ergonomic rolling.
Feet can roll more effectively if the upper of a hiking boot can be easily bent. Such a feature saves energy when the wearer climbs hills and it provides real comfort in the process. For this reason, LOWA has integrated a flexible zone and a lace loop into this area for the CAMINO EVO GTX. This involves repositioning the boot’s eyelets and using a flexible lace hook that improves heel comfort and facilitates bending.

To add flexibility to each eyelet of the CAMINO EVO GTX, the lacing systems through which laces are threaded are affixed separately. These sections are made of soft leather trim or supple textile materials that prevent pressure points. Thanks to the flexible arrangement of the eyelets, the laces can be individually adjusted without producing any excessive pressure on specific areas. But the tongue maintains its optimum positioning.
Corporate responsibility (CR) stands for far-sighted management in a company’s core business and has a high priority in the business’s overall strategy. CR is a key aspect of sustainable growth in the following areas of business activity: the market, jobs, the common good, the environment and supply chains. Social, environmental and commercial issues are given equal weight, and stakeholders are integrated into the strategic focus of the company’s CR activities.
More …The specially designed tongue of the CAMINO EVO GTX substantially enhances comfort. The tongue includes extra padding for the outer portion of the foot, and the upper end of it is especially soft. This asymmetric padding provides effectively coordinated support to many areas of the foot. To take into account the foot’s anatomy, the recesses for the ankle area have also been placed higher on the inside than on the outside, and a flexible bending insert has been integrated into the inner side by the foot.

Polyurethane (PU) is a soft plastic that has very good cushioning properties and is usually used in the midsole as a result. Through the use of PU, the soles become lightweight and functionally flexible.
Viscoelastic latex foam is made of a remarkable polymer that lends a special form memory to the foam. Once body heat or pressure is applied to the viscoelastic foam, the foam adapts exactly to these particular contours. This feature equally distributes pressure and eases stress on the feet.
Polyester is synthetic plastic fibre made from crude oil. In chemical terms, it is a polymer that can be processed into many different materials. Thanks to its chemical flexibility, polyester is lightweight, dries quickly, does not shrink and has the highest levels of tear and abrasion resistance.
Mesh is a material that consists of many evenly spaced holes. It is usually made of polyester or nylon and basically a lattice-like material that is created by interwoven threads. Thanks to its special design, the man-made fibre is particularly permeable to air, has special moisture-regulating qualities and is easy to care for, breathable and crease-resistant.
Nubuck leather is a full-grain leather that is slightly sanded, a process that lends a velvety look to the leather. Nubuck leather is especially durable, robust and open-pored. Depending on the desired look, nubuck leather can remain untreated or be oiled or waxed.
